Ukraine’s topless feminist sensation Femen has created a media frenzy across Europe, but before they take the world by storm, these bold and beautiful women must confront the dark and perverse forces that power their organisation.
Following the film, Drs. Jordan Amirkhani (Art History) and Heather Palmer (Rhetoric, Writing, and Women’s Studies), will discuss how the FEMEN movement has struggled to brand and market their cause using a variety of strategies and visual vocabularies. Has FEMEN breathed new life into older forms of feminist political agitation and expression, or do they rely on empty, domesticated tactics that reveal a confused political program?
